On
Vancouver Island there's a wealth of outstanding golf
facilities, and you're never very far from a golf course,
since the majority of them are conveniently located within
close proximity to the main highways. Thanks to the relatively
temperate climate, particularly in the southern and protected
eastern regions, Vancouver Island boasts golf courses
for all seasons. Victoria is one of the few places in
Canada where you can golf 365 days a year.
Vancouver is host to one PGA tournament per year, and
is a great choice for golfers looking to play some superb
golf without leaving behind the amenities of a metropolitan
city. There are over thirty golf courses within a short
distance of the city, and four courses along highway 101
up the Sunshine Coast to Powell River.
The famous winter mountain resort village of Whistler
boasts five fantastic golf courses, three of which rank
amongst Canada's top fifty courses.
Whistler is a great choice for golfers looking to play
phenomenal golf on courses which attract some of the top
professional golfers in the world. The courses in Whistler
are set amongst incredible scenery, with 360 degree mountain
views. Whistler also hosts other summer outdoor activities,

The
Okanagan, famous for it's fabulous weather, is perhaps
the richest golf valley in British Columbia, with 19 courses
strung along its five lakes, and over 50 courses in all.
In the south, there's great golfing in the Boundary area
and Oliver and Osoyoos, and in central Okanagan, one can
actually golf around orchard trees and enjoy a spectacular
view of Okanagan Lake in the foreground.
Throughout Kamloops and the north of the city, you can
golf in the mountains around Sun Peaks, Barriere, Clearwater
and Valemount. Around the Shuswap, the lake view is fabulous,
as you play everything from difficult Championship courses
to easy 9 holers. Diversity is the name of the
golf game around these parts.
In the southeastern corner of British Columbia, the golf
courses in the BC Rockies are phenomenal, and the scenery
is simply spectacular.
Throughout the region you'll find creatively designed
and scenic golf courses tucked away in communities, valleys
and on mountainsides. Golf Digest magazine places Trickle
Creek Golf Resort on a par with Pebble Beach in the US,
and the Mountainside Course at Fairmont Hot Springs was
recently voted 'Canada's Most Unique Golf Resort".
The top resorts also feature other attractions, like trail
rides, hiking, mountain biking, tennis, and even hot springs.
To the North, there are four courses in the Cariboo area
and seven golf courses in the Northern British Columbia
region.
